Susan Nalbach Lutz is originally from the Chicago area. She appeared there as soloist with many leading musical organizations, including the Chicago Symphony, and the Grant Park Symphony, and for ten years she was the mezzo-soprano soloist at the Rockefeller Chapel of the University of Chicago.

She is a graduate of Northwestern University with bachelor’s degrees in voice and music education and a master’s degree in vocal performance. She was accepted as a private student by the great Lotte Lehmann and studied intensively, especially in German Lieder, with her at her home in Santa Barbara. She was an apprentice artist with the Santa Fe Opera.

In 1988 Mr. and Mrs. Lutz moved to California from Illinois. She quickly became active there as a performer and as a teacher of voice and piano, in her home studio, in private homes and at Palomar College. She has sung as staff alto for the La Jolla Symphony Chorus, and was a member of the Symphony’s education outreach quartet. She also has experience as a
church choir and children’s choir director.

She brings her unique skills and experience to students in north San Diego County.
